Regarding Tf2
I hate to be the resident no man/offical ruleset guy, but tf2 is really meant to be played 6v6, though just about every pub in the universe gets that wrong. We could even do a mini tourny if enough people were down for it, and as always I recommend the competitive ruleset. (
http://www.cevo.com/index.php?page=downloads&func=tf2) all the info and config files you need are there. Its a great ruleset it kind of takes the shitfest out of tf2(random shotgun spread, random crits), and makes it more about accuracy, scoring successive hits, knowing your class roles, and really close teamwork, which is always even cooler when its at a lan.
@Lan DiegoX Gears 3, always a good choice
@ciabatta Also I'm so down for Dota2 its not even funny.
@fusean Quake live(
http://www.quakelive.com/#!home) is a decent choice as it is free, but there is no LAN support unless you request it, and if you do im pretty sure the process is quite a pain. So theres always open area.(
http://openarena.ws/smfnews.php) its just an open source q3a, that's free, and lets you host your own dedicated servers on LAN, so needless to say it has my vote. There's also the ol' wolfenstein enemy territory(
http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/files/files.shtml), which we can throw a good bunch of people on the LAN. Great team-work based shooter, and of course freeeeee!. We really need to stick to the free games as last time when we tried having a pc game that no one owned, we ran into trouble, and no one signed up. Things like bf3 are going to alienate a lot of people as there is no real way to get them to play, unless they want to pony up 60 bucks for the game, also no lan support, and this is a LAN EVENT.
Well that's my 3 dollars and 50 cents.
If you like any of these ideas and need help setting them up I would be happy to oblige!
